KLIMS 2018: Over 258K Visited The Motor Show, Lexus Booth Recognized As The Best

The recently concluded 2018 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show saw a turnout of 258,508 visitors throughout the 10-day motoring event.

Held at the new Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), the 9th edition of KLIMS was spread over 16,000 square meters of exhibition floor space housing 187 vehicles from 74 participating companies.

Prior to KLIMS, key figures in the automotive stakeholders and industry experts exchanged ideas and fostered collaboration through the two-day Kuala Lumpur International Automotive Conference (KLIAC). Carlist.my was invited as one of the panel speakers to provide insights into how consumers shop for a vehicle today.

At the Appreciation Dinner, the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), organizer of KLIMS 2018, recognized the exhibitors with Best Booth Awards for booth designs and presentation of displays. The awards were presented in two categories: Automotive-related products and Cars, Motorcycles, and Trucks.

In the Automotive-related products category that saw many booths featuring the latest accessories and services, Petronas whose booth included a barber shop came out as the winner for the Best Booth Award. Second place was awarded to Thinkware Dashcam by ZMC Automotive Pte Ltd with third placing awarded to V-Kool by NVK Interior (M) Sdn Bhd.

The Lexus booth won the Best Booth Award; it showcased the new Lexus ES, previewed the UX, and had a special section dedicated to a unique artistic installation. The Nissan booth that previewed the all-electric Leaf won second place, ahead of Honda in third placing.

Visitors to the show were also eligible to enter a lucky draw which prizes that included new cars. The lucky draw winners were drawn on the last day of the Motor Show, with a live streaming over social media. Each of the three lucky winners were notified immediately, but the stars and moon must have aligned perfectly for grand prize winner Wan Afedizal bin Wan Ariffin as he and his family were present at the announcement on Sunday night!

Wan Afedizal won the Toyota C-HR, while Tan Tse Thye will be enjoying a new Honda City, and Ng Mei Ching will be receiving the key fob to a new Perodua Myvi.

MAA is looking forward to the next presentation of KLIMS with more members across-the-board participating so that Malaysia and the automotive industry players can continue to develop and maintain a strong motoring culture in Malaysia.
