Perodua New SUV – Teases Design Of The Rear, Claim 15.6 km/L

Perodua continues to release bite-sized pieces of specifications on their upcoming SUV.

In this latest teaser image, the tail lamp is lit and have a similar design to the earlier launched Toyota sibling.

Perodua also unveiled that the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine with Dual VVTi (outputs of 105 PS and 136 Nm of torque in the Toyota model) will return 15.6 kilometres per litre of fuel consumption.

Both the new Perodua SUV (could it be named Lasaq, Aruz or Impax?) and Toyota Rush are also equipped with an idle start-stop feature that will momentarily turn off the engine when the vehicle comes to a complete stop (i.e. while waiting at a traffic light) to reduce fuel consumption.

Once the driver releases the brake pedal, the engine re-starts itself automatically, all within a blink of an eye.

This figure is very commendable, given that the Honda BR-V is returning 16.1 kilometres per litre of fuel through the use of a more efficient CVT-type automatic transmission.

To recap, Perodua has so far revealed that the new SUV will have these features:

The Toyota Rush is supplied to UMW Toyota by Perodua, thus, it comes to no surprise that the design and key features are the same. The same business model also applies in Indonesia: Astra Daihatsu Motor plant produces the Daihatsu Terios and supplies the Toyota Rush to Toyota.
