Proton should highly consider this Geely Binyue L

Photos of the upcoming Geely premium crossover SUV have been circulating online, and it might just be called the Binyue L.

Compared to the Geely Binyue aka "Proton X50", the Binyue L takes things to a different and premium level when it comes to styling and dimensions. Plus, that front end? Hard to argue with that piece of work.

T-shaped headlights for the win

This new compact SUV from Geely doesn't have an official name yet apart from its codename G426. Several automotive sites in China stated that there's a high probability that it'll be named the Binyue L to serve as the more premium offering compared to the current Binyue Cool.

To put things into comparison, the Binyue L has bigger dimensions compared to the Binyue Cool by 130mm longer, 65mm wider, 41mm taller, and carries a wheelbase that is 101mm longer. The front fascia itself should be an obvious winner thanks to its front grille design, Cadillac-style headlights, and also Geely's new logo.

1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine?

In terms of powertrain, the Binyue L is said to be fitted with a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 181PS and 290Nm of torque. Mated to a seven-speed DCT, it'll also be a front-wheel-drive setup.

We're not sure how the whole setup will compare with the likes of the current Proton X50 and X70, but one thing is for sure, we're loving the blacked-out roof and the choice of either having the four exhaust tips lined up at the centre of the 'rear diffuser' or separated in twos on the sides. Definitely more on the sportier side of things.
