Toyota Confirms C-HR For Thai Motor Expo – Priced From THB 900k, Hybrid Option

Toyota Motor Thailand will begin collecting orders for the Toyota C-HR at next month’s Thailand International Motor Expo, reports Thailand’s Bangkok Post.

Prices have not been confirmed but the report did say that it will start from around THB 900,000. In comparison, the Thai market Honda HR-V starts from THB 933,000.

The report also confirms our earlier report that the Thailand-made C-HR will come with two engine options – naturally aspirated 1.8-litre Dual VVT-i from the Toyota Corolla Altis, and a 1.8-litre petrol-electric hybrid from the Toyota Prius.

While the C-HR will be put on display at the Thai kingdom’s premier year-end auto show, the model will not go on sale until early next year.

The Thai daily explained that the delay in its introduction is due to additional fine-tuning of the chassis to cope with Thai driving conditions as well as recent changes in requirements to qualify for tax incentives for locally-produced hybrid/electric vehicles.

Separately, sources have indicated to Carlist.my that the Malaysian market Toyota C-HR will be imported from Thailand, but we will only be getting the 1.8-litre naturally aspirated engine.

The Malaysian specifications model will be previewed at tomorrow’s opening of the MAI Malaysia Autoshow 2017 but it will not be launched until late-Q1 or early-Q2 next year, after its regional sales debut in Thailand.
