VIDEO: Watch Mitsubishi Build The Lancer Evolution Final Edition

When Mitsubishi said goodbye to the Lancer Evolution X, along with its nine generations before it, the carmaker announced one last hurrah in the form of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition that will be sold as a Japan exclusive model only. In a sort of “farewell” video, Mitsubishi have dropped this video that highlights the production process of the Final Edition.

Only 1,000 examples of the Mitsubishi Lancer Final Edition will ever be produced from Mitsubishi’s Mizushima plant, where we see the car’s parts being stamped, welded together, rust-proof treated, and painted. The 4B11T 2.0-litre MIVEC turbocharged engine is sourced from the company’s Shiga powertrain plant, where it meets up with the rest of the car, paired to a five-speed manual gearbox. Power on tap is boosted to 308hp and 429Nm of torque.

The rest of the assembly process is shown as well, with the installation of the suspension that is comprised of Bilstein dampers and Eibach coil springs, Brembo two-piece ventilated brakes, Recaro full bucket sports seats upholstered in black leather with red stitching, and 18-inch BBS alloy wheels wrapped in Yokohama ADVAN 245/40 sized tyres. The ‘Final Edition’ badging scattered around the car rounds things off.

We won’t know for sure if there will be an all-new Mitsubishi Evo yet. Rumours point towards a high-performance crossover as a candidate although details on that are inconclusive. For now, let’s get sentimental at the end of the Lancer Evolution era.
