Volkswagen Opens Dedicated Training Centre - Volkswagen Automotive Academy in Glenmarie

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) today launched its first Volkswagen Automotive Academy in Malaysia which will serve as a training centre to conduct sales and after-sales training of the VPCM workforce. The move is the latest in a series of initiatives by the German marque to improve the quality of its services in the country.

The 14,117 square feet facility is located in Glenmarie, Shah Alam and is capable of accommodating up to 150 trainees a day. The training centre is staffed by 13 dedicated training staff. Training modules include soft and hard sales skills, technical simulations, diagnostics, and functions.

 

For after-sales training, there are four work bays and two technical service centre (TSC) bays. Other facilities and equipment such as wheel alignment machine, headlight adjusters, in-ground hoist, electronic board systems training, and diagnostics systems and tools are at trainees’ disposal for hands-on learning experience.

These tools and equipment are Volkswagen AG-certified and specifically catered to meet the needs of the Malaysian market.

During the tour of the centre, we also learned that the technical syllabus not only covers models that are currently on sale but ranges to model years as far back as 2006 or older.

There is also a designated room for parts system management, where trainees are taught practical and simulated training on how to manage, store and categorize parts and equipment.

In addition to the above, the academy also houses one multi purpose hall and six individual classrooms.

The academy will enroll 20 trainees for its sales training and 134 trainees for the (technical and non-technical) after-sales training program in the coming weeks.

Managing Director of VPCM, Erik Winter added, “Having the Academy in place is one of the major steps VPCM is taking to uphold its philosophy to provide value-added, quality services to customers.”
