150 Million And Counting – Nissan Celebrates Production Milestone

Nissan just announced that it has reached a new production milestone as the brand’s 150 millionth vehicle rolled out of the production line in Japan yesterday.  

Established in 1933, it took 73 years for Nissan to produce its first 100 million vehicles and another 11 years to build the last 50 million.

When the company reached its 100 million vehicle milestone in 2006, 76.5% of the total vehicles had been produced in Japan.

In the past 11 years however, close to 80% of the 50 million Nissan vehicles produced globally were made outside Japan – driven in particular by the U.S. and China.

Besides Japan, the US and China, Nissan vehicles are also being produced in Mexico, the UK, Spain, Vietnam, Myanmar, and also in Malaysia (Serendah and Segambut).   

Nissan sees this achievement as the result of 84 years of continued support from all of its stakeholders worldwide, including employees, dealers, suppliers and local communities, as well as the numerous customers who have chosen cars produced by Nissan.
