2017 BMW M2 Coupe In Malaysia – Upgraded With LED Lights And Apple CarPlay, RM536k

BMW Group Malaysia has introduced a facelifted version M2 Coupe, an updated version introduced globally this year with a minor facelift of the F22 2 Series Coupe and Convertible family.

External changes are relatively minor, starting with new bi-LED headlights, an upgrade from the outgoing model’s xenon units. The rear section also gets newly-designed all-LED tail lights.

Inside, the updated M2 receives a redesigned and illuminated M-specific black instrument panel. The iDrive infotainment system moves to BMW's latest version with touchscreen as well as and further enhanced with Apple Car Play.

The cabin itself is finished in high-gloss carbon fibre and features the newer design M leather ‘Walknappa’ steering wheel as seen in more recent BMW M and M Sport models.

Engine remains unchanged, with BMW’s 3.0-litre inline-6 engine pushing out 370 hp; maximum torque is rated at 465 Nm with an overboost function able to briefly stretch that to 500 Nm. Drive goes astern via a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.

An upgraded chassis brings in lightweight aluminium front and rear axles from the M3 and M4, M Servotronic steering with two settings, M compound brakes, and the electronically-controled Active M Differential

The updated BMW M2 Coupe is available with a choice of four colours – Long Beach Blue, Black Sapphire, Alpine White, and Mineral Grey – which are matched to Dakota Black leather interior with blue contrast stitching.

On-the-road price of the M2 without insurance but including BMW’s 5-year unlimited mileage warranty with free service and 2-year tyre warranty for individual private buyers in Peninsular Malaysia is RM535,800. To recap, the M2’s price during its launch in 2016 was RM498,800.

East Malaysia customers, meanwhile, pay RM537,986.50 under the same terms, but if you stay in duty-free Labuan or Langkawi, the asking price drops to just RM331,980.
