2021 JMC Vigus Pro 4x4 Launched In Malaysia - RM99k Gets You A 2.0-litre Turbodiesel and 8-speed ZF Transmission Amongst Others

Angka-Tan Motor Sdn Bhd (ATM), a subsidiary of Tan Chong Group's Warisan TC Holdings has just launched the 2021 JMC Vigus Pro 4x4 pickup truck, priced on the road without insurance for RM98,888 in Peninsular Malaysia and RM100,888 in East Malaysia.

As we reported before, the 2021 JMC Vigus Pro 4x4 is China's second best-selling truck.

The JMC Vigus Pro 4x4 comes with a Ford-derived 2.0-litre turbodiesel VGT engine capable of producing 141 PS and 340 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, and the 4WD drive system is from Borgwarner with 2H, 4H and 4L mode settings. The truck also features a rear differential lock from Eaton.

For those intrigued by the drivetrain's technical aspects, the 2.0-litre turbo engine is closely related to the 2.2-litre Puma engine found on the Ford Ranger, and the eight-speed ZF automatic transmission is the same transmission you find in most new BMWs.The Eaton differential lock doesn't work like traditional diff-locks in the sense that you have to engage it, as it is more autonomous in function, something like the Toyota Hilux's Auto LSD.

The truck has a quoted fuel consumption of 7.8L/100km and has a payload rating of 850kg.

Safety-wise, the truck comes with antilock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, electronic stability programme, hill start assist, hill descent control and a front dual airbag system.

Suspension-wise, the 2021 Vigus Pro is made of an independent double-wishbone at the front and a live axle with leaf springs at the rear. Stopping power is governed by ventilated disc brakes all around. The new truck comes with 16-inch two-tone alloy shod with 265/70 Maxxis all-terrain tyres.

In terms of its lighting and conveniences, the 2021 Vigus Pro is equipped with automatic halogen projector headlamps, C-shaped LED daytime running lights that surround the fog lights, powered and heated auto-folding side mirrors with LED repeaters, front and rear parking sensors, speed sensing auto door locking, auto wipers and side steps.

On the inside, the interior features an intriguing two-spoke steering wheel, 'Fighter' shift lever, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity with USB, that doubles up as a reverse camera screen. The seats are fabric, and the car is operated through a traditional key start. The steering wheel also features paddle shifters. 

The 2021 JMC Vigus Pro 4x4 comes with a three-year or 100,000 km warranty and is supported by what JMC calls JMCCare, where 18 additional benefits are added to the insurance plan.

The JMC Vigus Pro is available in one variant with four different colours to choose from – Steady Brown, Solid White, Brilliant Silver and Glossy Black.

The 2021 JMC Vigus Pro is locally assembled at the modern Tan Chong Motor plant located in Serendah and is now available for viewing and test drive across 13 ATM dealerships across the nation with a complementing network of 13 aftersales services workshops.
