Despite looking rather similar to its predecessor, the Kia Picanto is built on an all-new platform.Thanks to the new platform, wheelbase is now 15 mm longer, coming in at 2,400 mm. Seating height of the first row have been reduced by 10 mm and moved backwards by 5 mm to improve headroom by 3 mm and legroom by 15 mm.Boot space comes in at 255 litres, which can be further expanded to 1,010 litres by folding down the 60:40 split rear seats.Additionally, the all-new Kia Picanto is the cheapest new car on sale in Malaysia to offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay via its floating-type 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system.Engine and TransmissionIn terms of powertrain, Kia offers the all-new Picanto with two naturally-aspirated engines and one turbocharged engine, though for the Malaysian market, Naza Kia Malaysia has opted to fit in the predecessor’s 1.2-litre Kappa four-cylinder petrol engine.While the predecessor was offered with a five-speed manual, the all-new Picanto is now an automatic-only affair, with a four-speed automatic hooked up to the engine that sends 84 PS and 121 Nm to the front wheels.Standard FeaturesKeyless entry with push start buttonOne touch turn signal7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android AutoReverse camera with dynamic guide linesProjector headlightsLED daytime running lights (DRLs)LED tail lightsElectric folding side mirrors175/65R14 tiresFront and rear disc brakesElsewhere, the all-new Picanto is also the first model in its segment to offer six airbags as standard, on top of Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), much like its predecessor. Two packages are available, namely Novus X and Novus S, priced at RM5,618 and RM3,498 respectively. Among the included accessories are the Novus emblems, window tints, Novus bodykit, leather seat and a car DVR.The all-new Kia Picanto is available in five different colours – Pop Orange, Lime Light, Honey Bee, Clear White and Titanium Silver.
