5 Things You Should Know about the Upcoming 2020 Range Rover Evoque

After much anticipation, the all-new second-generation Range Rover Evoque is set to make its Malaysian debut within the next few weeks, and here are a few key things that we know about what’s headed our way.

1. Exterior - Same, but not the same

Even though the all-new Evoque retains its instantly recognisable silhouette, the compact SUV shares a lot of features with the Velar which we tested recently, such as the flush door handles, the slim LED headlights and taillights, as well as the bumpers.

In fact, it looks like a shorter version of the Velar when seen from certain angles. There will also be an optional R-Dynamic package with copper accents.

2. Interior – Is this an Evoque or a Velar?

The Evoque’s cabin has been completely redesigned, looking almost identical once again to the Velar, which is a good thing as it looks much more premium than what it was.

From what we can see, the all-new Evoque comes with the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system which uses a pair of 10-inch touchscreens and a 12.3-inch digital display.

3. Bigger boot

Featuring a 40:20:40 split-folding rear seat, the all-new Evoque comes with 1,383-litres of maximum boot space which is 10% more than before.

4. There’s Artificial Intelligence observing you

The all-new Evoque is the first Land Rover model to feature Smart Settings, a system that uses artificial intelligence algorithms to learn the driver’s preferences and use the driver’s preference to automate comfort and driver-specific media settings throughout the drive. The system, using ‘self-learning’ technology also recognises the driver from their key fob and phone and will thereby set their seat and steering column position on approach, allowing for up to eight profiles to be registered.

After a few journeys, the Evoque even remembers the driver’s preferred temperature settings, media preferences, and commonly dialled numbers depending on the time or day of the week.

5. Latest Ingenium powertrain

Powering the all-new Range Rover Evoque will be the brand’s new Ingenium 2.0L Turbocharged petrol engine that is paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Further complementing the powertrain package are features like the all-wheel drive system and Terrain Response 2 system which come as standard. Water wading depth has also improved by 100 mm to 600 mm now.

More details on pricing and variants will be announced at the launch which will be happening in early June, so watch this space for the full update.
