For this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, Audi will be introducing an all-electric SUV known as the e-tron quattro concept, which provides an outlook of the German carmaker’s first large-series electric car.
In the lead up to its unveiling, Audi have dropped this video of the SUV being sketched out in a bid to further tease the concept’s arrival.
The e-tron quattro concept was first previewed back in August and is based on a second-generation modular longitudinal platform (MLB). Audi say that the vehicle’s length is between that of its Q5 and Q7, which strongly indicates that this could be the precursor to the Audi Q6, a rival to the BMW X6 and the recently introduced Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Coupe. As this concept runs on electricity, the Tesla Model X will be squarely in its sights.
The all-electric powertrain in the concept draws its roots from the more sporty Audi R8 e-tron with three electric motors, all powered by a large lithium-ion battery. Coupled to significant aerodynamic optimisations that results in a drag coefficient value of just 0.25, the electric SUV is said to have a range exceeding 500km.
