Now Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has expanded the locally-assembled Outlander's range to include a new 2.4-litre variant, replacing the previous fully-imported from Japan unit.Power is derived from a 2.4-litre four-cylinder MIVEC petrol engine that does 167 PS and 222 Nm, paired to Mitsubishi’s INVECS-III CVT that sends power to all four wheels. Paddle shifters are fitted as standard.Similar to the Outlander 2.0 we sampled last year, the new Outlander 2.4 CKD also features Mitsubishi’s intelligent 4WD system with Multi-Select, allowing drivers to select three modes – 4WD Eco, 4WD Auto and 4WD Lock.Pictured here is the previous fully-imported Outlander 2.4 model - note the different wheel designOutside, the locally-assembled Outlander 2.4 features the same equipment as its fully-imported sibling, including LED headlights with LED DRLs, LED tail lights and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The Outlander 2.4 also adds an electric tailgate with anti-pinch to its list of equipment. Additionally, the locally-assembled Outlander 2.4 sports new wheel design.Moving inside, the locally-assembled seven-seater Outlander 2.4 continues to offer a sunroof, 7.0-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay connectivity and dual-zone automatic climate control. What sets the locally-assembled units from the fully-imported ones are the inclusion of the digital video recorder (DVR) and All Round Monitor.In terms of safety, seven airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Asist, Active Stability & Traction Control (ASTC), Hill Start Assist and ISOFIX anchor points are fitted as standard.The new locally-assembled Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4 is priced at RM155,000 (OTR without insurance), a reduction of roughly RM17,000 compared to the CBU model.
