New 2019 Proton Persona Details Revealed – To Be Launched Together With Iriz This Month

Proton today revealed all the details about the new Persona except for the price, which will be announced when the car is launched alongside the new Iriz later this month.

There will be four variants:

  • Persona Standard 1.6L Manual
  • Persona Standard 1.6L CVT
  • Persona Executive 1.6L CVT
  • Persona Premium 1.6L CVT

Only one engine will be powering the entire Persona range, which is a 1.6-litre VVT mill (109 PS / 150 Nm), which is paired to either a CVT or a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Featuring a few new cosmetic features, new gadgetry, as well as new safety features, the new Persona will be launched together with the new Iriz which was previewed a couple of weeks ago, within the next couple of months.

On the exterior, the Persona has been updated with a fresh front fascia which comprises an 'Ethereal Bow' grille which looks similar to the one on the X70 SUV, new LED DRLs, a new rear bumper, a new rear spoiler, as well as automatic headlights.

The Proton logo in the middle of the car’s rear has also been removed, replaced by ‘Proton’ lettering which runs across the back right above the number plate.

According to Proton, the cosmetic updates were added to give the car a neater, family friendly, and more proportionate look.

Inside, the dashboard continues to feature a two-tone colour split, and now taking centre stage is the Geely Smart Ecosystem (GKUI) 7-inch infotainment head unit similar to the X70’s, with the “Hi Proton” voice command system, 4G and Wi-Fi connectivity, Online music streaming, Online navigation, Over-The-Air Update, a reverse camera with Dynamic Line, and Parking Aid Display.
