RM20 VEP Charge For Foreign Vehicles Entering Johor From Singapore Postponed To September

The Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) charge which was originally scheduled to begin on August 1 for foreign vehicle entering Malaysia via Johor (namely Singapore), has been postponed till September.

Speaking to The Rakyat Post, Johor Public Works, Rural and Regional Development Committee chairman Datuk Hasni Mohamad said, “The postponement is to facilitate the fee collection system as part of a soft approach in introducing the VEP charge.”

He added that this will allow Singapore motorists sufficient time to prepare for the VEP charge. In addition, the month-long extension would allow them to be properly informed on the new charge that will take place at two of Johor’s land entry points.

However, the mechanism for the collection of the RM20 VEP fee collection has yet to be finalised as both the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complexes at JB Sentral here and the Second Link in Gelang Patah need to be prepared for service with the likelihood of adopting the current gantry system for the collection process.
