Spyshot: 2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom Spotted Testing On German Autobahn

Our man Hans is in Europe and he has just sent us some very interesting postcards from his trip, having spotted a test mule of the next-generation 2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom undergoing road trials on the German Autobahn.

The current Rolls-Royce Phantom debuted in 2003 and was the brand’s first model to be launched under the BMW Group’s ownership. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars had confirmed in February that production of the Phantom will cease at the end of this year ahead of the new model’s launch in 2018.

A new high-tech all-aluminium architecture will underpin the 2018 Phantom and will subsequently form the basis of other future Rolls-Royce models.

Demand of the existing model remains strong, however, with all 50 of the final Phantom Coupe and Drophead Coupe Zenith Collection cars snapped up by wealthy collectors.

In addition, orders are still coming in for the regular Phantom limousine, with customers requesting for highly bespoke and personalized one-off examples. Rolls-Royce claims that this demand for individualized vehicles of the current Phantom is sufficient to satisfy demand well into 2017.
