The Mean Looking Ford Ranger FX4 Returns

The second iteration of the Ford Ranger FX4 has just launched moments ago via both YouTube and Facebook Live making the Ford Ranger the first pickup truck in the country to be launched simultaneously through both these platforms.

The return of the Ranger FX4 features that fierce FX4 look, through distinctive FX4 upgrades, including exclusive FX4 only accessories. These unique FX4 changes include an exterior with a blacked-out theme, changing its grille to an ebony black coloured grille, 18-inch black wheels, gloss black side mirror and door handles, as well as a black sports bar - adding to the already aggressive look of the Ranger. Part of this particular FX4 theme is also the unique FX4 decals, located at the front doors and tailgate.

The interior has also seen some upgrades, with FX4 embossed lettering at the seats and red stitching across the interior. The Ranger FX4 is also packed with a host of smart technology and safety features seen in the current Ranger vehicles, including 4X4 Shift-On-The-Fly, rain-sensing wipers, the light and nimble Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS), daytime running lights and headlights for better visibility. It also comes with two airbags, Limited Slip Differential, Hill Descent Control, Hill Launch Assist, Antilock Braking System (ABS) with Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) and Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), ISOFIX child seat mounts, Electronic Stability Control with Traction Control, Rollover Mitigation, Trailer Sway Control and Adaptive Load Control.

Unfortunately however, the powertrain has not been upgraded returning to the familiar 2.2 litre TDCi VGT turbodiesel engine with an output of 158 Hp and 385 Nm of torque from 1,600 to 2,600 rpm. The six-speed automatic transmission from the current Ford Ranger also returns and with it a four-wheel-drive system with on-the-fly shifting and an electronic-locking rear differential.

To celebrate the arrival of the new FX4, the first 150 customers who purchase the FX4 will receive the following accessories worth RM5,398 for free:

  • Free accessories including a matte black sports bar and executive tinting
  • Free in-built Digital Video Recorder (DVR) that offers a range of smart and safety functions including high-definition (HD) recording, wide angle viewing, night view recording and Mobile App connect via Hotspot. It also comes with a 8GB memory card

There is more than meets the digital eye with the FX4, and if you wish to see it, FORD Malaysia has ensured customers that their showrooms have been properly sanitized.

“For customers visiting our showrooms and service centres nationwide, we would like to welcome and assure you that the necessary precautions are in place to ensure the health and safety of our visitors and staff as outlined by the Government. This includes, the practice of social distancing, temperature checks upon entering the premise, hand sanitiser dispensers located at common areas, in addition to frequent sanitising of high contact points throughout the premises, including service and display vehicles,” said Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director for Retail and Distribution, Malaysia, Sime Darby Motors.

The new Ford Ranger FX4 will set you back a cool price of RM126,888 on the road without insurance.
