Every year, Forbes gathers a list of around 1,500 companies that have an annual revenue of 10 billion USD or more. From this they narrow it down to just the 15 largest in each international industry and the 10 largest within each United States domestic industry. Even after narrowing down the list, it still comes to roughly 680 companies across 28 countries worldwide. From this short(er)list, a pool of 3,800 executives, directors, and securities analysts will select 10 companies that they admire the most.
The result is a list of the 50 Most Admired Companies worldwide. For the list that Forbes has published this year, Toyota sits in the top spot for the automotive sector, and in the 34th position on the overall list of 50 companies. For each company, the survey measures nine attributes considered critical to a company’s global success, including quality of products and services, social and environmental responsibility, global competitiveness, and value as an investment, among others.
"Toyota is proud to be listed once again as among the world’s most admired companies,” said Jim Lentz, Toyota Motor North America chief executive officer. “This recognition honors the commitment of our team to continuous improvement and exceeding customer expectations. Together, we at Toyota are leading the industry in creating the future of mobility and are making a positive difference in the world through safer, greener and more fun driving experiences.”
