UMW Toyota To Slash Waiting Time For Harrier

Since its launch in Malaysia in January this year, the Toyota Harrier has been in great demand. To date, UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has delivered over 500 units to customers throughout Malaysia but with the number of outstanding orders still high, waiting periods have reportedly risen to over a year according to sources familiar with the matter.

With the cooperation of Toyota Motor Corporation, UMW Toyota aims to increase the supply of the Harrier SUVs from the production lines in Japan to significantly shorten waiting times for customers.

Mr. Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor added, “We understand that our customers had to wait for a longer period to get delivery of their vehicle. The global demand for the Harrier has been great right from the start and for Malaysia, it surged further during the three months of the (GST) tax break. The production in Japan is now able to supply more to suit the demand and we will have more vehicles available for delivery,”

The Toyota Harrier is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine (direct-injection with VVT-iW) which produces 231 PS and 350 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission which drives the front wheels.

The Harrier’s is equipped with Toyota’s Safety Sense Package: a suite of active safety systems that include the Pre-Crash System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping System, Lane Departure Alert, and Adaptive High-Beam System.

Four colour choices are available – Dark Blue Mica Metallic, White Pearl, Sparkling Black Pearl, and Silver Metallic. The Harrier is offered in two variants, Premium and Luxury, priced at RM243,000 and RM266,000 (OTR, including SST, without Insurance) respectively. The Toyota Harrier comes with a 5-year/ unlimited mileage warranty.
