The first of three important models due by the end of the year. Not much is left to imagination as we know the car is based upon the Proton Iriz platform and will be powered exclusively by a 1.6-litre Variable Valve Timing (VVT) four-cylinder transmitting power to either a Punch Continuously Variable Trasnmission (CVT) in the auto variants or a Getrag five-speed manual. The video showcases Proton’s mantra of safety and driving enjoyment of their cars. The video highlights the slew of active safety systems such as ABS and VSC that will be fitted to the upcoming Persona – undergoing rigorous testing on the company’s Shah Alam Test Track.Dubbed ‘Safety 360’ – It drives home the message that has become a calling-card for Proton in recent years; that their cars offer safety and driving enjoyment at affordable prices. This video however, sheds little light on the aspects of refinement and economy – reportedly two areas of key interest for the engineers at Proton with the new Persona, the latter is believed to be addressed with the inclusion of ECO mode for the first time.
