BMW i3S Launched At Malaysia Autoshow 2019 – From RM280k

BMW Malaysia today unveiled the BMW i3s, its first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) at the ongoing (MARii) Malaysia Autoshow 2019.

The i3S is the most powerful variant of the i3 city car range – which is also available as a Range Extender hybrid in selected markets – but the Malaysian market will only get the full-electric (BEV) version, which retails for RM279,900 (estimated) inclusive of a 5-Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty with free scheduled service, and a 2-year tyre warranty program.

The i3S is powered by a synchronous electric motor which delivers 184 PS with a peak torque of 270Nm. Power is transmitted single-speed automatic transmission which powers the rear wheels. The i3s can sprint from 0-100 km/h in a sprightly 6.9 seconds.

Driving the motor is a 33.2 kWh lithium-ion battery located low in the vehicle floor, which provides the i3s with a combined range of 260km. The (optionally sold) iWallbox charger is able to recharge the i3S with up to 11kW of power in under three hours; good for a driving range of 180 km.

The i3S features sports suspension with custom-made springs, dampers, and anti-roll bars over the regular i3. A selectable Sport mode on the Driving Experience Control switch for a sharper driving experience. The i3S features a 10mm drop in ride height, with an increased track width of 40mm for sportier handling. It is also fitted with Style 431 20-inch alloy wheels with mixed tyres.

It also features Dynamic Stability Control and Dynamic Traction Control, Cornering Brake Control, and Dynamic Brake Control, on par with the brand’s more conventional vehicles.

On the inside, the i3S’ interior which is guided by sustainable vehicle architecture uses recycled or renewable materials on over 80% of all visible surfaces within the vehicle. The i3s also comes with the latest generation iDrive operating system, infotainment information is relayed through 10.25-inch central control display, and a separate 5.7-inch TFT instrument display shows other vital driving information.

Body colour options include Fluid Black and Capparis White, as well as Mineral Grey with body highlights in BMW i Blue.
