The Porsche Cayman GT4 Embodies What The GT3 Is To The 911

If you want a hard-core version of the Porsche 911, the GT3 is available to you. However, what if you wanted a hard-core Cayman, where do you go to? Well good news, because Porsche has introduced a new member into the Cayman family with the GT4.

So what’s so exciting about this sports car featuring components of its larger sibling, the 911 GT3?

Powertrain

A mid-engine 3.8-litre flat-six engine derived from the 911 Carrera S provides 385 hp, which is then sent solely through a six-speed manual transmission (exciting). Said engine is larger than the Cayman GTS’ 3.4-litre unit and produces 45 hp more as well. The century sprint is dealt with in just 4.2 seconds, and at full chops, the GT4 well max out at 295 km/h.

Exterior

The Porsche Cayman GT4 features three pronounced inlet openings at the front and borrowing a cue from the 911 GT3, a large fixed rear wing form the aerodynamic package on the car, designed for downforce.

A 30 mm lower ride height is also in place along with newly designed wheels that house the adopted large-sized brake system. As an added option, you can tag on Porsche’s Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system for added performance.

Interior

Inside, you’ll find standard sport seats, upholstered in a combination of leather and Alcantara but for a little extra, full bucket seats made of a carbon fibre composite material replaces them. A new sport steering wheel can also be seen. Track junkies are also able to select the Sport Chrono Package featuring a Track Precision app.

The Porsche Cayman GT4 will make its world premiere at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in March.
