Corroborating our earlier story that the FK8 Honda Civic Type R spotted brandishing Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) vehicle livery is not actually owned by PDRM, but by Honda Malaysia, Utusan Malaysia reports that the Police force has been given between 3-6 months to conduct technical evaluations of the vehicle's suitability for Police applications.
Director of PDRM’s Strategic Resource and Technology Department, Datuk Seri Tajudin Md Isa confirmed that the cars were loaned by Honda Malaysia for a period of 3-6 months for the technical review, after which it will be returned (at no cost) to Honda Malaysia.
Images of the FK8 Civic Type R, went viral several days ago, followed by netizens suggesting that the Civic Type R will replace the aging Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X (25 units), which were known as the Helang Lebuhraya Polis. These vehicles are used for high-speed pursuits (in cases of carjacking, kidnapping, and hijacking), patrolling duties, and VIP escort.
The Honda Civic 1.5 turbo is also undergoing similar technical evaluations.
